If recent environmental activism has inspired you, but you're not quite ready to give up deodorant, showering, and driving a car, Nancy H. Taylor provides an excellent starting point for the introductory environmentalist. In her new book, Go Green: How to Build an Earth-Friendly Community, she provides a number of tips for easy transition into an Earth-friendly way of life. Printed on recycled paper, this little green book is a quick read, leaving plenty of time for you to spring into action.

Beginning with energy conservation, Taylor lists different aspects of daily life that can be altered to increase efficiency. Each chapter is followed up with a list of bullet points highlighting the information covered for quick reference. She also covers issues of deception, like the incredible amount of energy required when using corn to manufacture biodiesel. Whether you're in the market for a new car or doing your weekly grocery shopping, Taylor provides the important information needed to make ecologically sound purchases.

There are extensive resources listed at the back of the book for further research, as this book really is a basic primer. But a taste of environmentally-friendly living might just be the springboard to a whole new way of life, and you'll make good use of the resources. Once you're ready to make bigger changes, pass it on a reluctant consumer in your life.

I'm going to do my part for Mother Earth by sharing my copy of this book with another reader. So if you'd like to read Go Green: How to Build an Earth-Friendly Community by Nancy H. Taylor, here's your chance!

My copy has been registered at Bookcrossing.com, but you are not required to journal it or join (though I would love to read what you think of it if you don't mind participating). It has also been balanced with a tree at Eco-Libris.net. Check it out to see how you can balance the paper used to print each of your own books with a brand new tree.

For a chance to win, leave me a comment by Sunday, May 4, 2008. I'll pick a winner via Random.org the following Monday. This giveaway is open to US residents. You must include a method of contact in the body of your comment, whether that be an email address, blog link or other method. If I don't know how to reach you, I can't award you the prize!

Good luck!

As we middle agers are becoming more aware of saving our environment; all need to be educated and instructed on more ideas; it was simply in the 50's and the 60's we were not earth but peace friendly
