What's on your nightstand?
I heard about this little carnival through J. Kaye's Book Blog, and thought I'd join in for some added motivation. Every month, participants post a picture of their TBR piles and a link at 5 Minutes for Books. Well, I think I've mentioned life got in the way for the past few months and I got a little--okay, a LOT--behind, so my stacks are pretty high. This first stack is the easy one. These are books that I didn't actually request or agree to review, but they arrived in my mailbox from publishers and publicists with what I assume were hopes of a review. Because I didn't request them, the next stack takes precedence. There are still some great looking books in this pile that I would love to read, but only after I've met my other obligations.
Okay, now *deep breath* here is the real TBR pile...
Yep, that's the big one. Intimidating, huh? That's why I wanted to post a picture--to give myself a little extra motivation. I'm reading much more quickly now and shouldn't have any trouble getting through these. There are a couple of children's picture books floating around that aren't in the picture. I'll have to retrieve them from my kids to complete the reviews.
Beautiful and frightening at the same time, eh?
The carnival starts over on August 26th, so while I don't forsee having all of these read by that date, I'm definitely going to do what I can to finish at least half of these. I'm also going to type up a list below so that you can see some of the titles that aren't very clear in the picture, and so that I can have a running list to check off as I complete them.
So, how many of these books are on your TBR pile? Will we be reading the same things? Which of these books have you already read? Which should I read next?

I know it's not in your real TBR pile but Audrey, Wait! was really fantastic. I hoped it would be great and it was pretty great!
I'll make sure I put it as a high priority when I'm caught up with my other obligations, then. Thanks for the suggestion, Alea!
Oh I love it! I have "Immortal" by Traci L. Slatton just in and will be starting on that book soon.
I really like this monthly event. Maybe it will help me get a little bit more organized. Or maybe I'm asking too much of myself...lol!
P.S. How was the new Batman movie? What did you think about it? You went yesterday to see it, right? (Haven't gone through all my messages yet, but that's what I thought I remember seeing.)
It was amazing, J. Kaye! I loved it! Heath Ledger really did an awesome job, and I loved the storyline and all of the twists. And of course, Christian Bale. :) There were lots of effects that I think will be lost when it makes it to DVD, so I'm glad I saw it in the theater.
Loved the truck scene!
You are so dead-on! Heath Ledger made this movie. I am so very sorry he is gone. I don't see how anyone could possibly replace him.
Wow, that is one big pile-lol! It's fun to see what others like me who have huge stacks of books everywhere. Happy Reading!
John Assaraf did a fantastic job cracking the entrepreneur's code and teaching people how to grow any business by first reconditioning their mind for success, in his recent book "The Answer." John is actually holding a free conference call Wednesday, August 20th @ 5pm PST. He will give his insights and tips on how to "have it all" in life. He'll also select a few lucky people to personally mentor. Check out details and register for the call here... http://www.JohnAssaraf.com/hia/challenge.htm?s=hiac2008
